Single Hung Window
A single hung window is made of two panels. The movable sash is the bottom one, and the fixed on the top. The window is opened by sliding the panel vertically within the frame.
Horizontal Rolling Window
A horizontal rolling window is made of two or three overlapping panels or sashes. Two of them are movable panels and one fixed, when there are three of them. The window is opened by sliding them horizontally within the frame.
A casement is a window that is attached to its frame by hinges at one side. Windows hinged at the top are referred to as awning windows. They are opened with a crank, which is placed at the bottom and serves as the window lock.
